Blue= oil. (but everyone else already answered that !)
THose "400 miles" that are on the "new" engine - are they good, solid
"highway cruising" miles or just short trips out and about ? The reason
being is that your rings ( I'm assuming you replaced them....) may not be
seated properly yet. Take it out for a decent long drive & see what happens.
Who assembled the engine ? shop or you ? Hopefully it was put back together
with the gaps in the different rings NOT lined up ! Have ya changed the oil
yet ? Assembly lube running around in there could be causing some of the
smoke also.
Also of note: I don't know what is available for the roadsters these days,
but you didn't let some parts guy talk you into Moly rings didja ?? ( a good
machinist can make anything fit if he puts his mind to it) Moly rings in a
typical road car will never seat quite right. They're for "extreme"
conditions only. Next item while we're at it..... NEVER ever EVER !! put
any sort of "wowie-gee-whiz" teflon (ala Slick-50) super lubricant engine
additive in a fresh motor. Again... the rings won't seat!. (SLick 50 used to
recommend at least 30K miles on a car before adding)
Just some thoughts... now go drive your car !
Laurie :-)
