When I set out to replace the old radio I had in the beast, I wanted 1000
watts, a CD changer and lots o' speakers. What I found that fit into the
console was the lowest of the low Radio Shack AM/FM cassette player. Don't
get me wrong, it's an ok radio, but with the top down, it just didn't have
enough ooomph to be heard clearly while driving. Well, I fixed that little
problem today, and again, Radio Shack came to the rescue. I put a 50 watt
amp between the speakers and the radio and boy! Does this make all the
difference. People standing on street corners can hear me coming now! All
from a couple of 6 inch speakers mounted low behind the seats.
I mounted the amp in the passenger side footwell, up on the wall as far as I
could manage. You can't see it unless you put your head on the seat cushion
and my wife said it did not get in her way at all. Radio Shack has these
amps for $29.95 and I think it was worth every penny.
