With the key in the ON position you should read about 7 volts. With the key in the START position you should read 12 volts. the ballast resistor is used to keep the coil from over heating while driving. At START you bypass the ballast resistor and get a full 12 volts to help with starting. Paul OROC As always all specifications subject to change with out notifications.
