timing chain stock shims...

Hello All,
        When we were monkeying with my cam last weekend we were going to 
shim the timing chain but..decided not to.  My tensioner had one black washer
and two shiny metal washers.  They look like thay might be stock but Ken said 
he could not remember if his car had just the one black washer or what?? Does
anybody know how  many washers a unshimed timing chain should have??
