Chris,
The synchros are NOT pressed onto the gears. The rings are held on by large
internal snap rings. You'll need to buy a good large snap ring remover. I
use a KD 2012 that screws in/out to remove the snap rings as opposed to the
ones where you have to keep constant pressure with your hands. Mark
everthing before disassembling so you know how it goes back together
especially the brake bands and especially 1st gear which has different
angles.
I use lacquer thinner and air to clean everything.
