To all the Datsun Lovers and racing lovers too!
It is official The BRE datsun 510 has officially been invited to
participate in the Montrey Historics breaking the long tradition of no
Japanese cars. Steve Earle has asked Nissan to bring the car and also
Dennis Morgan will bring the other beautifully restored #85 510 the
sister car to #46. While visiting Nissan on Fri I saw that they are
scrambling to finish just a freshen up and safety check of the original
car and John Morton is doing some of the preparation since he originally
helped build the car. I was told that although it is quite probably that
they will be ready it could of course not be done in time since it was
all so recent. Steve Earle relented with some prodding by Pete Brock on
behalf of Dennis Morgan so if all works out Tom Riggins driving the #85
BRE 510 will be racing John Morton in the #46 BRE 510 and hopefully they
will both be in front of all that Big american Trans-Am iron which
could include Gary Savage in the Hot Wheels Cuda. We can only hope this
works out and we get to see this incredible show. But at least we now
know it is for real!
