smog removal

.An old 7.5 distributor was discovered in a box of parts, so the dist.
on my 69 will get recurved hopefully soon. Do just the weights, springs
and plate get changed or is it common to replace the entire distributor?
Also I thought there might be a smog removal kit available for plugging
holes. Can't find the archive info.
Thanks for your help. My friend is going to do the work, but between the
two of us we need the "Datsun for Dummies" explanation:-)
