Nissan Motor Sports has abailable a limited slip differential compatable
with nearly all applications. The LSD unit lists at $750, the ring and
pinion for 3.77, 3.9, 4.11, 5.38 and others are available. They list at
$278 to $355 for the ring and pinion depending on gear ratio. The bearing
set for this rear end is about $85 if you use after market berings that can
be bought from any bearing outlet. Then you need a really good rear end
mechanic to set up the rear with the correct preload and spacings. You can
do this in your standard aluminum housing. So, get ready to spend a good
$1200 to $1500 on a new rear end. Used....hard to find. Sometime you can
get lucky in a wrecking yard and find one in the rear end of an early datsun
pickup. This usually has a 4.11 ring and pinion. Have fun!
