cowl holes

I just had to go look at my 67.5 and discovered that on the cowl, 2 3/4
inches in from the fender edge and 1 1/2 inch in from the cowl lip are
the rubber "bumpers" that keep the hood from rattling. I looked at
Sean's 69 and discovered these "bumpers' were on the hood of his car,
not the cowl like mine. Possible explanation?
