I've been trying to not name my roadster for two years now. Somehow I felt that it over-personalized the whole relationship. A car should be a tool for a given purpose. My 1-ton crew-cab Chevy is great for hauling a cubic yard of gravel, towing the roadster, and transporting a ....crew. My wife's Toyota is an efficient commuter, and the roadster will be a wonderful autocross car. Tonight the roadster moved under its own power for the first time in 20 years. I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment even though the brakes are dragging and it only fires on two cylinders. I broght it back from the brink of dispair submerged in a farmers field in hell (Oklahoma). A little while ago it made it all the way around the block and back into the safety of the garage without incident. I think it has earned a name now. I've thought hard about the qualities and attributes the car has. I tried to remember all the happy times the car and I have had together. I've given the car love and untold hours of toil. What has the car tried to give me in return? Tetanus! Well, there you have it. Andy Tetanus - 68 SPL w/u20 solex unnamed - 68 SRL w/blown headgasket |
