gas pedal blues

Before I crawl under the dashboard (again), is there an adjustment on the
height of the gas pedal off the firewall? Mine is sitting quite high and is
a bit uncomfortable in it's present position (my knee is almost in the
dashboard). I know it can't go too low, but it just seems higher than I
remember it being when I drove the car daily.
