I actually had a front spring break one time (a comp spring at that) while I was
driving. Pretty exciting.

Not all springs are created equal. I remember my '72 MGB had terrible
sagging springs in 1984, and it had never even been raced or abused. Datsun
springs are quite good, and Japan is known for producing high quality steel
in general.
Does anyone know of an incident or occasion that Datsun springs have failed?
(350 Chevy V8 conversions don't count :-) As with any parts, if you have
the opportunity to buy new ones and can afford it, then that is the way to
go.
