Just before the fuel pump went out, the car started bogging down. It didn't
have much power above 2000 rpm. It also surged between almost stalling and
about 3000 rpm. I thought I had it fixed when I put the new pump on, but the
problem persisted.
I was about to take her back in and retune it when I decided to check all
the little stuff like oil in the carb dampers. Well, it was a little thing
and I found it! The wire running from the firewall to the side of the
distributor under the condenser was way loose on the connector. It looked
ok, but very little pressure and it popped right off. A little squeeze with
the pliers and the beast now revs and runs like her old self again.
