Hey guys,
I checked out a 67.5 1600 that was posted here the other day. The ad is
posted below.
The body is FABULOUS.... It is incredibly straight and rust free, BUT.....
I read a post yesterday that the 67.5 cars had flared fenders; the right
front fender flare is 1.5 inches and the left front fender flare is 3/4 of
an inch. He has mismatched (perfectly painted) fenders on the front. The
body lines for that vintage of car are REAL good. The door gaps are
typical. It needs a new interior and top, new first gear syncro and who
knows what else since it hasn't run in 7 years. The owner has had it for
the last 20 years and bought it from his brother-in-law who was the second
owner.
Before his brother-in-law sold him the car, the car sat outside and pooled
rain in the interior. As a result, the floor board was rusted. He repaired
and fiberglassed it. He also mentioned that the "outrigger" (a metal
reinforcement beam under the driver's floorboard) needed to be replaced.
The door and trunk seals are gone. There is a 9x6 inch spot of paint on the
door jamb on the driver's side is flaking away. The sun visors are cracked.
The dash mounted rear view mirror is missing. The dash pad appears to have
been redone (by a novice.) The front wall of the trunk, (rear of the
passenger compartment) has been cut (by a hack) to fit 6inch speakers. It
needs a top, too. No tonneau cover, no hard top.
Unless I'm TOTALLY wrong, this car doesn't seem to be worth anything near
the asking price. What do you guys say? Offer him $1000?
