Well, its not quite spring, but it was 70 here today, so I cut out
of work early. Was going to plant seeds in the garden.....
then I thought about the roadster, had charged the battery
a few weeks ago, gee it should start. So I started it.
Maybe I better take it for a quick spin to blow the dust off
of it......about two hours later I returned........what a blast.
Then I washed it and checked all fluids (yea shoulda
done that before the ride).....but I was
re-amazed at how fast the pushrod 2liter is,,,ran
thru the gears and saw 6K in each one, including 5th.
Dont know how fast, speedo dosnt work, and figure
tach is reading high, but came up on traffic going
about 60 (I think) at 4K in 5th and I gained on
them real, real fast. One sort of scary thing,
was going around a quick sweeper, and
cresting a frost heave, and the car hopped and
got sort of sideways at speed, this was not fun.
Easy to catch though. This car is a major
adrenaline rush each time, and no matter
what I tell myself, each time there is only
one way to drive it....fast
at least I stay calm until out in the
sticks.....guess its good to be old and wise....
or at least wiser than when I was 16....
