I FINALLY picked up my baby from the body shop yesterday. The
door I got from Mike Poorboy last summer (thanks Mike) has successfully
been merged onto her, and it looks awesome. I had the guy clean up all
the nicks and scratches (couldn't afford the full repaint), and it really
cleaned up the appearance. $1,200 to clean up an retrofit the door, and
perform all the cosmetic nick and scratch repair. I felt like I got a
pretty fair price and some nice work (Tom Black's garage). He ended up
using GM white, which matched up to whatever I had really well. I learned
a lot of things about my car during this repair, the first of which is
that the whole exterior has been repainted at some point. The drive home
in sunny 40 degree wheather with the top down in Portland yesterday
afternoon was a little chilly in the suit and tie outfit, but I had a
blast anyway. You forget how much fun it is to drive with the top down
when you haven't had the chance in a while.
Sighting note: For those of you who take the Oregonian newspaper,
check out the full page ad for the classifieds in todays (02/07) paper. I
was shocked to see a picture of a roadster, looks like a 68, in the spread
on how effective classified ads are. Maybe we aren't so forgotten over
all.
