I think that Nissan and Renault corporate idiots have cleansed Nissan
Design of anyone with the right stuff to tap into the Z's aesthetic past
and translate that into a worthy design--be it retro or "forward thinking".
Clearly the return of the original Z car proportions and aesthetic has
returned in many recent sports cars--the BMW Z3 for starters. (which in no
small irony has a sweet straight 6 as well!) Plenty of recent carmakers
have hit homeruns in designing new and beautiful sports cars that are
clearly from the "DNA" of the car's past--Jaguar and Aston Martin,
Chrysler, Audi, VW, Ford, the list goes on.
Why Nissan/Renault felt the need to continue with a bad evolution of the
last 300Z (really not all that beautiful a car to begin with compared with
the 240Z, IMHO) without any discernible visual, aesthetic or proportional
link to the 240Z is beyond my imagination.
At least we can dream together of what could have been. Thanks guys. I
look forward to seeing the designs--and I may enter one of my own, If I can
just find some spare time . . ..
