For some reason the text didn't come through on my last message.

I am having trouble removing my long starter from a 69 1600. I have a 2000
one to put in, but I need to make a little bit more room to get it out.
Where is the best place to
jack up the body about a half inch from the frame? I think it would screw up
the gasket if I try from under the oil pan. Is the one bolt near the starter
the only one I need to
remove? I read about a triangular plate, but I don't seem to have one. I do
have a triangular double walled piece, but that seems like you wouldn't want
to cut into that.
There is some metal on the bracket with the bolt holding the body to the
frame that I bent up, but that didn't give me enough room either. I was
thinking of disassembling the
starter and removing it in pieces. Has anyone ever done it that way?

Thanks for any advice,

Steve
