hello,
Well my charging problems on my 70 1600 have been fixed!
have no idea exactly what was wrong, and as you all know, it was
driving me nuts (as well as a few of you).
Here is how I fixed it; after the hell of trying to deal with removing
and replacing the alternator, I decided to move it to the proper side.
so, I fabricated a mounting system to install the alternator on the
left side like a 66. I wired up a new hotwire, redid all grounds,
soldered the lugs, rewired the alt to the voltage reg.
Now, it works!
I'd like to thank the following people who offered their advice and
kept me going in this quest to staighten out my charging system.

Paul from OROC
Ben Zech
Jim from Cheasapeake Va

Thank you all and thanks to the list for just being there and letting
me know " I'm not all alone "
Now for the "rubbing it in", I drove around for hours last night
having a blast, no top no heater....WONDERFUL!!!
