radio noise and electric pump

Has anyone determined if there is a connection between radio noise and the 
use of an electric fuel pump?  I can't test the radio with the car running 
w/o the pump for obvious reasons, and am curious if the pump is causing 
interference noise (much worse on AM) through the rear mounted antenna.
