1600 Motor

Hi list,
I'm rebuilding a 1600 for a friend whos mechanic put in a bad bearing.
Anyway, should the crank really be tight from the rear rope seal?  I've done
these before and it seems to loosen when started.  I plastigauged the mains
and rods and they were ok..  Also does anyone have a spacer from the water
pump to the block they'd like to sell? with gasket?
