I have a '68 1600 that I've been trying to resurrect after sitting in a
shed for the past twenty years. After getting the engine running I
noticed the oil was foamy, like it was when I blew a head gasket on my
trooper. Having a gasket kit that I purchased some time ago, I replaced
the head gasket using the guide lines from Tech Tips.
I am once again in the same situation. This time it idles much faster,
about 2000 and bellows white smoke once the thermostadt opens...I didn't
send the head out to be examined? It was my first attempt at changing a
head gasket, but followed the guide closely and torqued to specs.
Help...
