Hello all,
Here in Nevada 68 and newer get smog checked so my 66 1600 doesn't need
to be smogged. I plan to readjust my carbs so that they run better. The ADQ
needle can be set to run well richer or to run OK and pass smog. The stock
needles are so lean in the midrange that if you lean them out enough to pass
at idle they just barely run in the midrange. If you want to pass smog at
random tests run them lean and put up with the reduced performance. What
happens if you fail the random test? If all you get is a repair and retest
ticket with no fine, run rich, and if you get caught, lean it out and go do
the test. When I lived in California, if you got a repair ticket for the same
violation several times (too noisy, excess height etc.) they would get kind
of testy about it.

A couple of questions, Keith. Are you going to swap needles again for
daily driving or are you subject to being caught up in random roadside
