The most typical reason for a car to run-on like that is having the timing 
too-far advanced. Is your car also "pinging" on hard acceleration by chance?. 
On late models w/smog distributor  it's supposed to be 0*. Instinct tells 
this this isn't right, but it is! Ya lose a little bit of "off the line 
power" but the car is overall much happier that way.

Pt#'s: my local dealer also told me the rocker cover gasket was NLA. Best bet 
is get one from  Roadster vendor, or a NAPA can order up a Beck-Arnley for ya
