The gas-cap key I have is an octoganl shaped smaller that actually says
"Nissan Motor Co." on it. I was thinking it said something like "Gas".
There is a number (5775) on both the key and the lock itself. The
elliptical ignition key also says Nissan on it, with the word Wasco in
smaller print underneath (made in Wasco county Oregon?). The door, trunk,
and jockey box key has a rounded rectangular head, and also says Nissan
Motor Co. on it. I locked my keys in my trunk a couple of years ago and
the locksmith at the time said there were no longer blanks being made for
that key but that some locksmiths had bought up the remaining supply. He
supposedly had some in McMinnville, Oregon (Tom Jackson's Lock and Key
503-472-0331). He wrote some info about blanks down on the back of his
card which made sense at the time as to blank # and code #, but now I
don't know what's what. Here is what he wrote:
FH 1224 - I WS-2
L 3080 - D
Don't know if that helps or not. Good luck

Subject: gas-cap keys
Dear John,
Thanks for the input.
As I've learned since, you can't get the tumbler out of the gas cap to
reset it to another key. So, if a PO had to replace the gas-cap on your
car, it would now be with a different key from the one that opens your
doors, trunk, and center console. That would explain why you have 3 keys
now: ignition, doors/console/trunk, and gas-cap keys, and why I'm headed
to
the same place! However, the original set from the dealer was a 2-key
operation: ignition + everything else.
If you can kindly email me the manufacturer's name and number from you
gas-cap key, assuming it is not the original Nissan key, that might help
me
to track down a useful key blank for duplicating my (one) gascap key.
Again, thanks for taking the trouble to help me out.
Cordially,
Teddy
