Yes, some pistons do have notches on the top edge to indicate the front of the piston (heading toward the front of the engine). The reason is some pistons have the pin offset to one side for crank throw and you wouldn't want to install it backwards. If you have sharp eyes, you can see the offset when you look down the axis of the piston pin. Good luck. Stan Wada |
