Dist cap and rotor question

I was looking over my rotor this afternoon and it
appeared to be a bit burned at the tip and felt rough.
The contacts on the distributor were also a bit rough.
I don't remember seeing this before, is it something
to be concerned about or normal wear and tear? I have
a 17.5 non-smog distributor with Pertronix ignition.
