1. in both handling and pleasure for cruising...what size tires would
the group suggest for a 1967 spl311. i have 175/70r14's on it now
but they are a little old and i would like to replace soon for the
   summer.

Kevin, I recently re-tired (sorry for the bad pun) from PO-installed (3 x
205 plus 1 x 195, I believe this was a seldom used dirt track oval set-up
used extensively in the state of Tennessee for approx. 3 weeks in 1971, but
I'm sure someone on the list can confirm that for me...) and was planning on
putting on 195's all around.
(making slow speed steering a bit easier, plus the 205's were on Z-car
wheels and with the offset, I found that with a floor jack you couldn't get
them out from between the drum and fender, luckily I found this out in my
garage and not in traffic)
I fell for a great deal for a set of 185's, but now feel that traction-wise
I am much, much closer to power-sliding than I was. Plus, the ride is much
more rocky and skittery. Although, I must state that in honor of my recent
roadster purchase two of my three routes to work have sprouted trench plates
of the most heinous variety.
On the other hand, since I am double-clutching into/out-of second gear or
else I hear a not-so nice "phhhht", maybe the new tire rubber has created a
speed limitation that will let me put off the inevitable clutch fix for a
couple more months.

and other items:
My return e-mails to Stan Chernoff keep getting returned with
"unrecognizable address", can anyone assist me?

Victor, I want to beer-bribe you to take a spin in my car to pick your brain
and help me prioritize my "list", cause I've driven (aka "nursed along")
rides in the past and then loaned it to someone and had them say,
"Geez, you're _______ is @#$%, how do you manage?"
I must request, however, that you keep the RPM's below 52,000 though, cuz
I've read you're recent postings.... (insert large smile)

Thanks to all for all the useful tech-pointers. I've been cataloging all
the tech suggestions and part numbers for the last 4-5 months (including the
names of those submitting) and have to say the collection is one of the best
repair 'manuals' I've encountered.
Between the tech-tips, the websites, the vendors, etc. I feel I am very
fortunate to have such access.
Hope I can return the favor some day.
