Hopped into the company van today to make a delivery in Laguna Beach (yeah,
I know it's rough...). So I'm sitting at a light on PCH, waiting for
traffic. I look in the rearview and see a beautiful '71 Mercedes SL coupe
coming up behind me. Didn't have long to admire the car, though, because it
piled right into the back of the van at about 20 mph! Shook some memories
loose, I didn't even know I had! A cop came along right away and the guy
admits he wasn't paying attention. DUH! Anyway, I'm looking at this once
pristine SL being towed away, and all I can think is 'Boy, I'm sure glad it
wasn't a Roadster'. Must have had my brains rattled harder than I thought!
Oh, yeah, completed the delivery (a computer system and scanner) and
everything worked fine. I'm sore, the company van's got a dented bumper and
the SL looked totaled. My work is done here.
