Damian,

I'll post the Distributor FAQ.

As to what Distributor you have, you need to remove the
breaker plate (where the points are mounted on), and
look at the centrifugal advance cam. It should have either
"7.5" or "17.5" stamped on it.  

The "7.5" being the '67 distributor 

The "17.5" being the USA smog distributor ('68-'70).

The FAQ should answer the rest of your questions.  On the 67.5
2000 the Solex and SU cars used the same distributor, but no
vacuum advance hookup on the solex models.

The different camshaft (SU vs. Solex) was the reason for 
setting 16BTDC (SU) or 20 BTDC (Solex) on the timing.
