Just a month away now, the biggest roadster/Z event east of the
Mississippi ( and south of Watkins Glen) is the MidOhio Sports Car Course
Vintage Grand Prix on the weekend of June 23 - 25 in Lexington, Ohio. Last
year we had over 30 cars in attendance, and that was with the threat of bad
weather! This years forecasted sunshine for the weekend promises to bring
that number up to record attendances.
Friday is a great day to wander the paddocks and get a close look at the
cars that are racing and meet the owners and drivers. Hang around with
Chris Luers, OROC President, and you may hear some trade secrets on race
tuning! Stick with Diane Luers and you're bound to meet some Nissan Motor
Sports people.
Saturday is the first of two race days. It is also 'British Car Show'
day, so watch were you step <GRIN>. Plan on visiting Motoring 'Xtra's
hop[ of goodies for sports car clothing, patches, pins and checkered flag
'stuff' in the afternoon while Chris and Diane are minding the shop. They
will have a good supply of Datsun shirts, mugs, patches and pins for all
owners.
Sunday is the best day if you can only make it for one day. A full day of
racing, a show field of cars, and a chance to get your Datsun out on the
track for two 'parade' laps ( don't get caught in third gear when the track
in front of you suddenly clears or you'll get passed in a heart beat!). I
have been reading and dreaming sports cars for over 35 years and every year
I find another car at MidOhio that I have never seen before! Everything
from Amphicars to Zephers, Alfas to Volvos (Okay, so I'm stumped for another
Z-mobile!) and everything in between.
Please let the Ohio Roadster Owners Club, The Z Association of Cleveland,
Ohio, and the Z Car Club of Ohio be your hosts. Saturday look for a YELLOW
roadster at the top of the hill in the infield and park your Datsun Nissan
with us. Sunday join the clubs on the show field and sign-up for the show
to get your free parade laps and lovely door prizes!
