It is true! I asked Fred to put his car up to mine on the freeway starting
at 50mph in fourth gear. We both hit the gas and he took off from me. I
absolutely had nothing under 3500rpm. I to have driven a few SU Cars and
they are so nice and streeetable. I absolutely hate driving my Solex car up
and down the hills in SF. Especially when I am packing a passenger with a
full tank. Then getting stuck behind a Cable Car on a hill. Talk about
running the clutch!
The Solex Carb and Cam combo is awesome on the track. There is a huge
difference when the cars are running above 5500. Punch a stock Solex and it
is pulling strong until 7000.
Will be at Thunderhill on the 22nd for another bout with my friends in their
Miatas and Supras and ZX's.... etc. The car has never been as dailed in as
it is now. New wide Panasports and Yokahama A032 R's. I will also have
SRL311000701 Racer Dave Pina with me at the track. Dave tells me of revving
up to 8 grand plus during the days of his racing at Sears Point, Laguna Seca,
Riverside etc.
