Sorry to hear about your mishap. Its amazing that no damage was done! A
surprise I'm sure. Do you have any enemies? If all the lugnuts decided to
*somehow* all vibrate loose at the same time, I would think you would feel
it in the steering before loosing the whole wheel. Had something similar
happen to a friend during a union strike at his job. Both passenger side
wheels feel off-there were no lugnuts inside the hubcaps.
Regarding the possibility that they could vibrate loose.......the owner of a
local specialty wheel shop recommended that any alloy with a flat seat (not
acorn nuts) be torqued to 90-110 footpounds and checked regulary as they CAN
come loose.
I'm just glad everything is OK and this didn't happen at highway speeds!
