another Fair(lad)y story,
in about 78, I was commuting my '68 2000 from North Richardson to Dallas
Love field, about 4:30 a.m. Hardly any traffic on the road at that time.
Upon coming onto the southbound Central Expressway on the Campbell entrance
ramp, I saw a '77 Lincoln on the inside lane. He moved over to the outside
lane, to squeeze me off the road, laying on the horn, he then went back to
the inside lane. I said to myself that I will find some way to get under
his skin. He was going about 85-90, and I trailed him about 30 yards on the
outside lane...biding my time.
A couple of miles later, he did the same thing to another car, swinging over
and forcing this person off the road, then coming back to the inside lane.
Something in the back of my mind says that he would want to exit westbound
onto LBJ in a couple more miles, and he would have to exit to the right.
So I pulled up just ahead of him, a half fender ahead, in the right lane,
figuring he would still be exiting to the right; he would have to get ahead
of me to exit, because that Lincoln driver would die before he would have to
go in back of me to make the exit.......
Sure enough, about 3/4 mile from the turnoff, I saw his headlight beams jump
up and I hit it. We stayed in position, running just about even,
neck-to-neck, never letting that 460 cu in gain anything on me. I have no
idea how fast we were going when he finally had to let off, put on his
brakes, and have to swing around BEHIND me to make the exit.
I am sure it ruined his whole day, but it sure made mine!
I have no idea how fast we were going, but my 2Liter never missed a beat.
