On the rear springs. (seems to be the Tech subject this week) This is what
I have found out after calling the vendors and doing a little reading.

The rear springs on the '66 are a little stiffer and have a lower, more flat
arch then the later model springs. Being flat or a bit of reverse arch
lowers the roll center, thus flatter cornering. Bob Sharps Comp manual also
states this and they did not like the rear comp springs because they were
too stiff for most of the tracks - they used '66 springs. Some people
complain about the '66 having sagging rear springs. I can not believe the
metallurgy of the rear springs is that bad. If this were true the front
springs would also sag. I am from the camp that says the rear is at a good
design height, but it was the front that was lifted to meet head light
requirements. My next move on improving the handling on my '66 is to
purchase comp front springs to lower the front/more roll stiffness to match
the rear. This is for a good street setup. For race only, the rules
change.

This is my conclusion of the small amount of research I did. The racing
types among us may set me straight.

Happy Roadstering
