SOME shocks will NOT pass through the lower A-frame.
The original OEM shocks are quite simple to change,
provided you drive the car up on STURDY Ramps. Remove
the lower plate, held with three bolts, upper shock
mount... piece of cake.
Well my old reoadster had some Monroe shocks on them.
THe body was too big to pass throught the lower hole.
I really went crazy the first time I came across those
"fat body" shocks. Only way to get them out was to
take apart the suspension (unbolted the upper ball
joint while using a spring compressor).
Last time someone asked me how hard it was to replace
the shocks... I smiled and replied "simple if you
have OEM shocks in place". KYB and most replacements
are fairly standard in size. Monroe and few other
American replacements... ugh. ;-)
