I posted a question about radio for the 67 and earlier models awhile back.
My intentions were to preserve the console and find a radio that fit the
opening without any cutting. Thanks for all the suggestions & comments. Some
people were also interested in my findings.
>From all the odd places, I found the Radio Shack model# 12-2004 to fit the
opening perfectly @ only $ 39.00 which is much cheaper than the Blaupunkt
speakers that I also installed. All I had to do was to trim the face plate
to match the angle of the console.
It is a no frill AM/FM/CASS. (3.8 W RMS/Channel) W/ all the installation
hardware included. Best of all, it has a very low power consumption that
one should not worry about melting the existing wires or fire hazards. It
sounds very adequate for my needs and serves the purpose. Also, a very good
anti theft deterrent. It is so simple looking that a professional thief may
even contribute towards an upgrade!
