I have heard alot of talk about those leaky fiberglass
tops and never heard where I could get new seals. I
checked out about a 100 different cars in the JY for a
likely donor and really didn't find anything.

Today, I remembered that I had an extra BMW 2002 trunk
seal so I took a look. While, it has a lip that fits
on the 2002 body, the lip is very small and almost
flat so I gave it a try.

I used my drill and a metal brush to get off what
remained of the old seal that fits around the bottom
of the top behind the rear cargo area. I got a small
tube of that Permatex black rubber cement and smeared
a generous amount on the lip. I pressed firmed, used
a razor to cut it to fit and put it back on in less
than 10 minutes. Hey, it looks and fits great.

Now, I need to work on the seals around the windows
that seal the top. I saw something at Pep Boys that I
think will fit, but it costs $30. Hey, another trip to
the JY is in order first. Those seals are about $3.

Keep the rain out... especially to those of you in
Seattle.
