Nice work, Chris. Particularly for us tech heads this sort of measurement
is very useful. Really helps get across the point that all those
alignment parameters are interactive and dynamic.
One of the BIG problems on the 510 and ZX is the drastic changes in
camber and toe that the rear wheels go through as the semi trailing arm
does its thing. Too many folks tend to slam the car as low as they can
creating a large toe out condition in the rear which generates some very
interesting handling. Just lowering any car without regard to restoring
geometry most often create more problems than benefits.
In a slightly different vain, there's been some discussion recently on
the 510 list about CAD modeling the engine compartment to allow modeling
different engine swaps in CAD to anticipate problems. Probably not
practical, but a nice idea to add to our wish list.
