All vehicles have zero oil pressure at idle.  That is not to mean there is
not oil being pumped to the bearings and rocker arms.  There is oil being
moved through the lines, but not at such a rate that it will show  pressure.
There is not a high load on the metal so it does not need a lot of oil to be
present.  When you accelerate the engine, that is when you need a higher
volume of oil to be present at the critical friction points.  My 1953 chevy
had a normal oil pressure of 15 pounds.  That is adequate for most engines.
The rest depends on the oil you use for lubrication.  Stay away from
Pennzoil, and Quaker State Oil.  They are designed for failure.  Pat.
