Hi all,
Yesterday Joe and Phil and Soheil and I drove our Roadsters up to Mount
Palomar. It was a gorgeous day and a perfect ride. For any of you in
the SoCal area who have not done this ride, it is something you should
not miss. That four miles of twisty road up the mountain is fantastic.
Anyway, after we got home I thought I would take my wife up to Alpine
for dinner since she wasn't able to go on the ride. We got in the
"Muskuar" ('67 Jag E-type with Ford 302) and headed up there on the
frontage road. Came to a reasonably sharp curve where the road goes
under the freeway and I just about lost the Jag!!! I was used to the
way the Roadster handled all day on those twisty roads up Palomar
Mountain and I just drove the Jag into that curve like it was a
Roadster... big mistake!!!
OK, so my Roadster has wide tires and new KYBs and a lot of camber and
is lowered and all that, and the Muskuar V8 sits up pretty high in the
engine bay and the shocks are old (but they don't bounce or anything...)
the Roadster still corners about 300% better than the Jag. Remember
that, the next time some Brit car snob sneers at your rice-burner ;-)
I'll post some pictures of the ride as soon as I figure out how to do
it ;-)
