Everyone has already covered all the usual places, but also check the
floorboards, especially forward end, these will rust if the car had a leaky
top
(or if the PO left it in the rain forever, like mine). Also, in serious
leave the top down in the rain cases, the rear package shelf has a nice
lip that will form a pond under the carpet, and rust, then leak into
the trunk. (PO experimenting with Aquaculture, I think)
The great thing is, unlike a ghia/VW, these cars have a really
substantial frame, so the car will not start to sag in the middle
(had a 70 beetle that would do this anytime both doors
were opened at the same time, due to significant rust)
In fact with the unusual reinforcement in the rockers, and substantial
floorpan, it would seem the roadster designers were thinking
unibody thoughts even though they built a body on frame design,
just my gut feeling here.
