Do you mean those two rectangular structures with the big holes in the middle?

I've also been wondering what their purpose is. I haven't looked too closely
at what the frame looks like under them, but how were you going to remove
them?
Van - BTW, I've saved probably over 20 lbs just by removing all the dirt and
grime from my frame...amazing!
