The little valve is what lets you "Pump" the brakes.
It wwas installed backward from your description. Easy to do,
btw.
If you stare at it long enough, you'll discover is allows a
LOT of fluid to flow one way, very little to flow back.
Basically only one hole is uncoverd for the 'returning fluid'
while about 10 holes are open (via the rubber section) to
allow more fluid flow on the "out going" flow.
If the rear brakes are not adjusted, and the front wheel bearings
are loose, you will realy appreciate that "pump up" affect
that little valve has.
