First, Hello to fellow Roadster owners! I am a recent re-subscriber to the
list.
I have been quietly reading the posts, motivating myself to re-restore my
dear little car ('70 1600). When I read of Randy's plight, I had to speak up.
This is a subject I feel quite passionate about, based on personal experience.
More than a year ago, I decided it was up and time for the "big D" from the
poor-excuse-of-a-human-being I had as a husband. (mean ,violent guy, but
that's another story..). My roadster that I have owned since 1986 had been on
the back burner, in storage and basically neglected. Knowing that things were
"not quite right at home" I transferred the title into my dad's name, hoping
to keep the car out of the divorce. (Successful, BTW - all mine again.)
Now that the air has cleared, and I'm free of "that guy", I have just moved
from the Seattle area (Puyallup, actually) to Phoenix-ish (Chandler). You
know what? I am SO GLAD I kept the car. Both she & I have a new lease on life
now. The prospect of fixing her back up is parallel with the new and positive
changes I have made in my life. Yes, I could have used the $$ to pay for
other things, but peace of mind, focus, direction, & most importantly FUN,
are worth much more to me than what I could have realized from selling the
car.
Moral of the story: KEEP THE CAR !!!- don't do something you'll kick yourself
in the @$$ for later.
Next subject: Being new to the Phoenix/Chandler area, I would love to know if
there are any local Roadster owners here. Anything like NWDE we had back in
Seattle?
(ps... Hi to Gordon if he remembers me... think back about 12 yrs ago, I
worked at the Schuck's in N. Auburn, and did a few Friday Nighters with
NWDE).
Ciao !
