Thank you to all.
Obviously I have been driving for a few months with one B/C frozen in a
position that supported one brake pad. Now I understand why it would pull
to one side no matter what I did.
I will be getting plungers for the brake adjuster ASAP....Dan?

Ummm, YES YES YES!!!!
I think you've found your problem.
Without the plungers, the adjuster is totally dysfunctional, er I mean
unfucntional. Find the plungers, or buy new adjusters.
Oh, and use some brake cleaner to get those fingerprints off the shoes
