In the continuing saga of my 67 pushrod 2 liter resto, I have
even a few more questions....
--Lately the thread about panhard rods caused me to look closely under
my car. Interesting enough, there is a bracket on the passenger
side only, right above the emergency brake pivot. Doesn't look like
a panhard rod, cause I think they go side to side. Looks like a
track bar mount, cause looks like the rod, which isn't there, goes
fore and aft. Also, there is no corresponding mount on the car.
Since my car has the 5spd, is it possible that its got a
2liter axle also? Did they have this thing, or is this
axle from something completely different? It looks like its
always been there.
--I'm looking for a 5 spd speedo cable, complete, useable condition,
used. Mine is missing completely, probably got thrown away during
the less than pristine swap of the engine/tranny by the PO.
--cut out the rusty remains of what was a stock exhaust, complete
with 1.5 inch tailpipes. Would like to go to a bigger pipe and was
measuring the frame holes. Looks like 1 7/8 is biggest that will
go thru. Has anyone done a hammer adjustment to a 2 inch pipe?
I was either going to spend big dollars for a flowmaster muffler, or
just use 2 short glasspacks, one in the muffler position, and one
where the resonator used to be. I'm leaning toward the glasspacks,
2 should not be super loud, and the small size will make packaging
easy. Also 2 of em are cheaper than the flowmaster.

For all that are interested, I did the fiberglass on the rust holes on
the bottom rear of the front fenders today, in the 100 degree heat,
Also ground and pried out some bondo from various parts of the
nose and started fiberglassing up those spots also. For the
sealed up areas in the door sills I'm planning on spraying in
spray grease, so whatever rust is in there (not much) quits
eating thru, or at least slows way down. Looking good for
a next spring completion date, so far.
Thanks in advance,
Jim
