Incidentally, it would appear that Datsun engineers were smart enough
NOT to use British transmission designs. They "borrowed" a lot of
transmission technology from BMW. Folks who raced BMW 1600s and 2000
sedans told me that they could use PL510 gears in their transmissions
with no modifications at less than a quarter of the cost. (I have never
been able to verify this.)
