For All,
Just a few loose ends I collected based on list questions, and my own
discoveries....
Horns- My project just made a weak one horn croak on initial
electrical testing. Noticed that the MIYAMOTO HORN CO, 3A, 12V
horns could be disassembled, so I took 'em apart. There's a set
of contacts in there that were burnt and corroded, filed them and cleaned
out the corrosion. Re-assembled, cleaned, and painted, and they both
work great now. BTW, the standard screw head on the back of the horn
is the tone adjust, and adjusts spring tension on the contact set.
Make sure to pin punch or otherwise mark the pieces
so they go back together right. I previously had taken apart and filed and
cleaned the horn relay, with no change, so I was pretty sure the horns
had "gone south".
Paint- lots of talk about paint, I have started with a qt of DUPONT 80S
red oxide primer and a gallon of 3602S Thinner. That's enough
thinner to mix several quarts, I just bought one to start. Also bought
cheap thinner to clean up the paint gun. This stuff, and some sandpaper,
was almost 50 dollars. My rough estimate of fiberglass (lots) filler (very
little)
primer, and paint to finish this car runs around 200-250 dollars. It will
not be a multi thousand dollar job when I'm done, but will I hope be
equal or better than the original factory job, and last as long or longer.
Trailers- There were question a while back on where to find
trailer brake parts. You guys in California don't have
Northern Tool and Equipment stores, but they have a web site now,
northern-online.com
a set of 10 inch electric brakes is 74.99, hydraulic is 79.99
9 inch disc brakes are 99.99 each.
I have found their stuff to be of good quality and really fairly priced.

Hope this helps a few members out there,
