Thanks to all who replied. Yeah, the original design sucks. P.O. used longer
bolts to override clutch. That is to say, ran two bolts thru fan, bearing
housing, and into water pump flange. Also pumped area with bearings full of
silicone gasket maker. Seemed like the answer to everything for him.
Started car without fan, and I guess it's quieter? Chasing mystery noise and
having a non-Nissan timing chain isn't helping.
I'll finish tomorrow, got a couple of bolts to put in yet. Seemed like a 100
degrees in the garage. Needed malt beverage. Couldn't go
on................................................!
